About Barry J Brady:
To say that Barry loves Landscape and Nature photography is an understatement. It is his passion, and he loves capturing scenes in remote places. Barry J Brady has been a professional photographer since January 2008. He remained in the top three finalists, for three consecutive years, in the Professional Fuji Film Awards for South Africa. In 2010 Barry and his wife began a 2 year long term travel adventure. They visited Argentina, Chile, Peru and Antarctica. They travelled over 15 000 kms by bus and visited the driest place on the planet, the Atacama Desert in Chile and swam in the freezing ocean in Antarctica. They were caught in the 8.8 Earthquake in Chile in Feb 2010 and were in gale force storm at sea for 3 days while crossing the Drake Passage to Antarctica. In February 2011, Barry sumitted Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak on the African continent at 5895m above sea level and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Some of the images that are in this competition were made during these incredible travels. Barry is based in the beautiful city of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada.

“I do not want to take a combination of good surf photos over time, I also don’t want to remember myself for just being in the channel at the right time and right place capturing the surfers wave of a lifetime because in the end that’s easy. As a photographer I want to remember myself for taking that “one” photo, not because of the surfers name or reputation but because of the position I put myself in to capture the moment in time, an amazing view of the ocean that can not be captured without an element of risk, its taken me years to actually find my niche within my photography and now I have its such a great place to be in.”
