ABOUT THE SHOT:

Portrait of Kazakh lady under heavy snowstorm. Being a cinematograph fan I try to make my photos as film frame with some mood and sensuality, history and message. I was happy to get successful climate, wind and sense of the model for this photo.

ABOUT ARMAN:

Quotation from THINK CONTRA MAGAZINE: Arman Zhenikeyev is photographer from the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is ‘master of advertisement and fashion’ photography. His photos are sometimes provocative, sometimes serious, but always flickering strikes directly to the heart. “I didn’t study photography in a special university,” says Arman.

“My education is environmental specialist in the oil industry. All my photo education consists of books, communication with experienced photographers all over the world, and studying of personal favourite photos.” Arman conveys a certain sensual mystery in his photo making. We feel as though we are looking into someones foggy memories. His portraits have a certain grace and serenity that shows there is something more to be investigated in his subjects.

Arman makes us want to know the thoughts rolling around behind the persons eyes.Tranquility is achieved through use of black and white, hazy atmospheres and minimalistic sets, but they aren’t dark photos. In fact, they are full of glowing colour. Arman Zhenikeyev is a winner of many Kazakhstan and international photo competition.
